Der Autor weiß gar nicht, ob ein Captain nun ein sehr hochgestellter Offizier ist oder eben nicht. Macht aber nichts, der Name „Captain Reynolds“ klingt wohlig nach 70er-Jahre – sozusagen ist er eine Hommage an diese Zeit und die damals aufkommenden Erzählungen, Bücher und Filme über Reisen durch das Universum.

Warum diese Einleitung? Weil besagter Captain Reynolds vielleicht demnächst hier noch öfter anzutreffen ist. Hiermit ist er heute geboren und agiert dann in der Zukunft, also immer ein paar Jahre vor uns. Und noch etwas:  Captain Reynolds erlebt faszinierende Sci-Fi-Abenteuer und wir tauchen mit ihm in das Unbekannte ein.“

Dieser Kurzfilm, geschaffen von Michael Mainka, markiert seinen ersten Ausflug ins Science-Fiction-Genre. In der Geschichte selbst stößt Reynolds auf ein Portal – eine Art Tür oder Tor, das zwei getrennte Orte oder Dimensionen miteinander verbindet.

Portale werden oft als mystische oder technologische Phänomene dargestellt, die die bekannten Gesetze der Physik überwinden. Im Gegensatz dazu ist ein Wurmloch ein theoretischer Tunnel in der Raumzeit, der entfernte Punkte im Universum verbinden könnte.

Während beide Konzepte Abkürzungen zu anderen Orten oder Zeiten bieten, sind Portale in der Regel mit unmittelbarem, direktem Reisen zwischen zwei bestimmten Punkten verbunden, während Wurmlöcher hypothetische Durchgänge durch Raum und Zeit darstellen, die möglicherweise fortschrittliche Technologie oder besondere Bedingungen erfordern.

The author isn’t quite sure if a Captain is a very high-ranking officer or not. But that doesn’t really matter, because the name “Captain Reynolds” has a cozy, 1970s vibe—almost a homage to the era when stories, books, and films about space travel began to flourish.

Why this introduction? Because Captain Reynolds might be showing up here more often in the future. Today marks his debut, and he’ll be operating in the future—always a few years ahead of us. And one more thing: Captain Reynolds experiences fascinating sci-fi adventures, and we’ll dive into the unknown with him.

This short film, created by Michael Mainka, marks his first foray into the science fiction genre. In the story, Reynolds encounters a portal—a type of door or gateway that connects two separate places or dimensions.

Portals are often depicted as mystical or technological phenomena that transcend the known laws of physics. In contrast, a wormhole is a theoretical tunnel in spacetime that could connect distant points in the universe.
